Abstract:

Reflecting the politics of the mid 2000s, this collection focusts on Connecticut public access television and the coverage of both national and local level politics. There is a particular emphasis on the war in Iraq and the Patriot Act, as well as local Bridgeport concerns.

Mr. Pasquariello values his privacy and as such has requested that the Bridgeport History Center withhold biographical information.

The scope of the films vary from local Bridgeport politics to state issues to national levels, with a particular emphasis on the Iraq War during 2003. American involvement in Iraq was intensely debated at the time, and the volume of tapes dedicated to Representative Christopher Shay's public forums on the topic reflects this fact. There are multiple tapes of the February 23, 2003 meeting he held, many reflecting various edits, camera angles, and camera men involved with the production of the final aired product. This is complemented by the 2005 Patriot Act Debate between Shays and Bob Barr, which was no less prominent on the national stage.

On the state and local level, there is extensive footage of Bridgeport mayoral debates, Black Rock Arts information, and work done by the League of Women Voters, Connecticut. Taken as a whole, the collection provides a political snapshot of Connecticut in the mid 00s.

As Pasquariello is a film maker, many of the tapes and DVDs in the collection reflect the same content with different editing for run times, camera angles, and other elements. For the ease of listing, the primary title has been included on this finding aid. The label on each VHS contains all of the information on Pasquariello's original labels.

Material has been separated between format, with VHS placed first followed by DVDs. Due to the fact that many of these tapes feature the same programing but different edits, the archivist has tried to place the master copy at the first instance every time.
